Art Trek 2017

Art Trek Open Studios was conceived fourteen years ago from a series of commissioned artist events, held during the successful annual North Devon Festival. Art Trek has grown from a small trail of just eleven artists, into a large annual event with up to 100 artists and makers taking part. The trail now reaches out across North Devon, Torridge and West Exmoor.

Art Trek was initiated to help isolated, rurally based artists connect with each other. The event gives them a platform to invite visitors into their homes, studios and workplaces, creating friendly dialogues and building relationships.

Over the last three years volunteers from North Devon Arts have run the Art Trek event, but this year they handed over its organisation to a small team from White Moose Projects CIC, who are dedicated to nurturing and developing the annual Art Trek Open Studios over the coming years.

The ethos of Art Trek is to create a friendly, relaxed atmosphere where visitors can chat with artists, perhaps over a cup of tea, offering up a greater knowledge of how artists think and go about creating their work.

Visitors will be able to see sketch-books, artworks in progress, demonstrations, join in with workshops and have the opportunity to buy or commission directly from the artists and makers.

Due to the nature of Art Trek Open Studios, you will be travelling in some remote and beautiful areas of North Devon, so do have a local area map with you so that you can enjoy discovering villages, hamlets and parts of the county you would normally not get to visit!
