Carol is a mixed media artist. Encaustic art is her main work, a painting technique in which pigments are mixed with hot liquid wax. She uses this process to produce unique and colourful earrings. Carol's diverse range of artwork also includes greetings cards, dolls, quilting and other textiles work.

Carol became a full member of 14 The Gallery in 2012, having moved from Lapford to Dolton, she was then close enough to Great Torrington to apply to become a full member. She was an associate member for sometime before that and her cards and earrings were first on sale back when it was known as Helen Baile's Pottery.

One of the roles of a full member is being involved with the day to day running and manning of the Gallery. The various jobs are shared out between members and monthly meetings are held to discuss any issues and also to look at the work of potential members or associates interested in joining.  Being part of the cooperative is a good support network, with more experienced artists offering advice to the newer ones; an opportunity for the new, less experienced artists to dip a toe, to test the water and gain some much needed confidence. It's great to see the excitement when they make their first sale and watch them grow in confidence. Coming face to face with your customers is very satisfying and a great motivator.
